This is a Python library that works with the Flickr API. There are a few other ones out there, like Beej’s and FlickrClient. I used both to come up with my own. Unlike the other libraries this one uses XML-RPC, that’s not necessarily good but I just thought it fit better in to Python since XML-RPC is part of the standard python library. The format that the API functions return is a nested dictionary, it might change later to something more palatable.
Other features include a streamlined authentication process and an integrated upload method.
The library currently lacks a custom error class and it is not thread safe, and when I say that I mean it will do crazy stuff if you don’t put mutex locks around calls to this library.
Anyway, this whole library came to be because I am working on a Flickr client that I will be releasing shortly. Here is how it works:
>>> agent = flickrlib.FlickrAgent(flickr_api_key,flickr_ssecret)
>>> agent.flickr.people.findByUsername(username='amanda')
{u'id': u'35237103548@N01',
u'nsid': u'35237103548@N01',
u'text': u'',
u'type': u'user',
u'username': [{u'text': u'Amanda', u'type': u'username'}]}
You could get it here.
Yesterday and today were quiet days here on the Microsoft campus. It might be because of Thanksgiving, but I think all those geeks are at home playing with their new X-Box. It took me a while to understand that the green dye in the water fountains on campus was not a prank.
Added a movie to my list: The Jerk

It took me a while to like blogs. I first thought that it is where people could publicly park their ego, but slowly I started reading other people’s blogs, and liking it, and then I noticed that there are people around me that I respect with blogs, finally I remembered that my family in Israel is always trying to drill information about my daily life here, so I figure this is a good way to communicate, be expressive, and polish my writing skills.
I will admit that this is not my first personal web site, when the web and I were young I constructed a personal shrine in the form of Eitan’s Slime Pit. Since I had no photo of myself in digital form I used a picture of Schwarzenegger in his early days. It was fun, but at some point it didn’t feel very tasteful anymore, so I took it off.
Welcome to Monotonous.org, yes mom, I know what monotonous means, it’s an adjective that I like. I’ll admit that until Friday I didn’t know how to pronounce it, Jon helped me out with that, and it took some practice.
I should thank Jeremy for hosting this site and helping me out. It is weird to use a computer without root access, it brings back Unix to it’s early terminal use.
